After over a year living in that scary, uncomfortable, awkward "post grad" world, I wanted to share my unique experience and how I became the best version of myself after what felt like hitting rock bottom once I graduated college. I was able to become the healthiest, happiest version of myself and can confidently say I know exactly where I want to take my career and the person I want to be. I can still remember how lost, confused, and stressed I was during the hardest transition I have probably ever faced and I hope my experiences can help someone like me who is not quite sure what to do next.

June-August

As an unemployed post grad student with no job lined up, no fun summer travel plans, and all the time in the world on my hands, I knew what my main priority would be for the next few months. Working on myself and recovering from the chaos of the last 4 months of being a college student. I spent my days getting organized and moving back home, going on walks, listening to self improvement podcasts, fixing my nutrition, exercising daily, cutting back on drinking, and truly finding myself. Despite only being able to work a few shifts a week at my hometown restaurant I had been working at since I was 17, I was working on the most important thing in life: my mental and physical health. I taught myself how to build healthy habits, find a daily and weekly routines that allowed me to thrive to be the best version of myself, and learn how to finally be truly confident in who I was through hard work, discipline, and a lot of practice.

While learning to become the best version of myself, I spent a few hours a day applying to jobs, researching, sending emails, working on my resume, etc. and finally was able to get a job offer with a company that I had interned for in college. I started around mid August and would soon become an even better version of myself with a routine that I would thrive in.

August-February

I worked remotely as a publicist in a contract position for McNeil, Gray & Rice and began to love my weekly routines and waking up excited and energized to start my day. I would wake up around 6:30 do my morning routine, go for a 30-60 minute walk (depending on how I was feeling), cook myself a healthy breakfast, journal, and plan out my day before work. The position was a lot of independent work while working remotely and commuting into Boston on Wednesdays to collaborate with my co workers.

The key to making the most out of my days was having something to look forward to after work. Throwing on my favorite workout outfit and heading to the gym to better myself and be able to see some friends and just get out of the house was the best part of my day. I stuck with this same routine every week and was also working every weekend waitressing at the restaurant all the while still finding time to be social and spend time with my friends and family. I was the happiest version of myself and was able to find joy and excitement through so many little moments throughout my day which led me to not live for the weekend and feel the healthiest I have ever been.

I had fallen back in love with health and wellness/fitness and became obsessed with not only taking action through these but reading, learning, watching videos, talking about it, and picturing a career that I loved in this industry. I had lost 20 pounds that I gained in college and was living a healthy, motivating lifestyle. People around me began to notice the significant changes I was making and the person I was becoming. I loved sharing my advice and experience on how I was able to flip the switch and live a healthier lifestyle with friends and family and inspiring them to do the same. I soon created an instagram account where I would share more about my health and wellness journey and loved sharing my meals, workouts, mental health tips, and more.

March-June

Once my contract position ended, I thought my next step would be to find a more challenging job where I was more involved in the PR industry and thought PR was what I should continue to do considering it is what I got my degree in.

I quickly realized I had accepted a job I did not see myself growing in or had any passion for the industry or clients I was working with. Despite pushing through obstacles and talking with my managers, I knew I was not the right person for this job and made the difficult decision to reside and take some time to really focus on the kind of work I wanted to be doing and what I wanted to grow in.

June 2023

I moved Newport Rhode Island, accepted a waitressing job at a breakfast place, and really focused on myself, researching, learning, and growing.

August 2023

Now that I am settled in and beginning to find myself again, I am excited to begin the next step in my career. I want to change my career path from Public Relations to Marketing to be able to utilize these skills to one day run my own business. Whether it is starting my own online fitness coaching business, writing about my journey and my passion for health and wellness, working for/with an online fitness/lifestyle coach or business, or a company that promotes a healthy lifestyle, I want to be able to learn and grow from someone who has the same passions and interests as me and surround myself with like minded-people.
